Terms & Conditions

  • Prices – Room rates will vary from time to time. Please refer to the reservation desk or your online agent for prices. Some rates are Room Only, breakfast can be pre-ordered for £8.50 per person per day subject to availability. 
  • We are not VAT registered so rates do not include VAT.
  •  Bookings – All bookings (‘Bookings’) are personal and may not be sold, assigned or otherwise transferred. Bookings must be guaranteed by a major credit or debit card. Specific rooms cannot be guaranteed and may be changed without notice for an equivalent type. Deposits may vary on Online Travel Agents sites.
  • Arrival and Departure – For direct bookings arrangements for check in are flexible. Rooms are usually ready from 1pm. Please inform reception of time of arrival. Check in closes at 8pm. Later check can be arrange by prior agreement. Departure by 10.30am. Group bookings check and and check out times may vary by prior agreement.
  • Cancellations, amendments and non-arrivals – If, for any reason, a booking has to be cancelled, a cancellation number will be given. This must be retained or the full contract price will be charged for non-arrivals.  Please refer to your booking for cancellation policy which may differ with different agents.  A booking cancelled less than 5 full days prior to arrival will incur payment of the full contract price. This will be deducted from the credit or debit card supplied.
  • Amendments – To amend a booking, guests must telephone or email/write to the guest house.
  • Car Parking – Acorn Lodge does not accept responsibility for damage to, or for theft from, or for theft of vehicle parked on the guest house premises.
  • Insurance – guests are recommended to have insurance to cover cancellation, curtailment and loss of baggage, personal effects and money.
  • Children –  Children under the age of 12 can be accommodated when booking exclusive use of Acorn Lodge. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult to ensure that the children’s behaviour is appropriate.
  • Disabled/Less mobile guests – Acorn Lodge does not have any ground floor rooms and is not suitable for wheelchair users due to the age and nature of the property. Please see the Access Statement. As needs do vary, guests are requested to check prior to making a reservation to identify any specific requirements.
  • Dogs – Dogs are not accepted at Acorn Lodge unless when booking the whole house and by prior arrangement. there will be a charge of £30 for a well behaved dog.
  • Behaviour –  Acorn Lodge reserved the right to judge acceptable levels of noise and behaviour of guests or their representatives, who must take all steps for corrective action as requested by the guest house. In the event of failure of the guests or their representatives to comply with management requests, the guest house may terminate the booking or stop any event immediately without being liable for any refund or compensation.
  • Discrimination – It is the policy of the guest house not to discriminate on the grounds of race, colour, nationality, creed, sex, marital state, age, ethnic origin or disability. Any guest house employees and all sub-contractors engaged by or on behalf of the guest house are expected to adhere to this policy and the guest house may, without incurring any liability to guests, remove from the guest house any person or persons offending against this policy.
  • Comments and complaints – In the unlikely event that you are disappointed with the guest house, any comment or complaint should be made in writing within 7 days of departure to the guest house management.
  • Statutory Requirements – the guest house is subject to statutory controls, including those relating to fire, licensing, entertainment, health, hygiene and safety. These must be strictly observed by guests and their representatives.
  • Liability – Other than for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the guest house, the guest house’s liability to the guest is limited to the price of the booking. The guest house does not accept responsibility for damage to the guests’ possessions or for theft from the room(s) where the guests are residing.  Unless the guest house is liable under the above clause, the guest indemnifies the gust house from and against any and all liability and any claims, proceedings or damages resulting or arising from the Booking, the guest or any outside contractors of the client. The guest house will not be liable for failure to perform to the extent that the failure is cause by any factor beyond its reasonable control.
  • Damage – Guests are responsible for any damage caused to the allocated rooms, furnishings, utensils and equipment in them by any act or omission, default or neglect of the guests or their representatives and will pay to the guest house on demand the amount require to make good or remedy any such damage and the costs of such recovery.
  • Damage Deposit – when booking exclusive use of Acorn Lodge there will be a £500 damage deposit. this will be returned within 3 days of departure subject to the property being left as it was found on arrival. There is a £50 cleaning charge for group bookings.
  • Smoking – The guest house is a non smoking property. If a guest decides to smoke in any room they will be liable to a charge for the cleaning/damage the guest has caused by smoking. A charge equal to one additional nights stay will be charged in all cases.
  • Third Party Rights – The Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 shall not apply to this contract.
  • Law – Any issues arising out of these booking conditions shall be deemed to have existence in England and be subject to English law and the exclusive  jurisdiction of English courts.

Competition Terms and Conditions

The competition is open to anyone 18 years or over except employees of Acorn Lodge and Gino D’Acampo My Restaurant Harrogate and their close relatives and anyone otherwise connected with the organisation or judging of the competition. 

 

There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.

 

Stays must be taken subject to availability Mon-Thursday.

 

By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.

 

The route to entry for the competition is to like the post on our Facebook Page.

 

Any additional action (including sharing a post, commenting, watch party, tagging etc) are done so at the entrant’s discretion and do not impact the outcome of the giveaway.

 

We have the right to allow more than one entry per competition at times. We will notify specifically in the post if this is the case

 

Closing date for entry will be stated in the post of the Facebook page. After this date, then no further entries to the competition will be permitted.

 

No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.

The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the promoter’s control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by the promoter.

 

The promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.

The prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. The prizes are not transferable. Prizes are subject to availability and we reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.

 

Winners will be chosen at random via the software platform that we will share if anyone wants to know more

 

The winner will be notified by private message on Facebook and within 28 days of the closing date. If the winner cannot be contacted or do not claim the prize within 14 days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.

 

The promoter will notify the winner when and where the prize can be collected

 

The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

 

By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.

 

The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts.

 

The winner agrees to the use of his/her name and image in any publicity material, as well as their entry. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current [UK] data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.
