Update on Acorn Lodge and the family!
Room 1 has now been made into a King Sized room along with Rooms 4 and 7. Rooms 2, 5 and 6 will be having a refresh in the New Year. We are looking forward to our new little Granddaughter Lily’s first Christmas as all the family move into Acorn Lodge with us over Christmas. She will get to experience for the first time the madness of an Acorn Christmas as we take over the guest house! We are now overrun with girls – daughters Abby and Lola, daughter in law Yvette, Abby’s two girls Edie and Violet (who celebrates her 3rd birthday on the 21st), and now Lily. Even the dog Betsy is a girl! Hopefully the boys Phil, Luke and Michael will be on washing up duty! We head of for a quick ski break in the Pyrenees in the New Year then it’s back at it for the Toy and Gift Fair and Bigga Turf conferences in January.
There are so many opportunities for a different shopping experience in Harrogate and District. With Christmas markets selling hand made gift such as in Knaresborough, Otley, Pateley Bridge and surrounding towns and villages you are sure to find something a little bit different. We also have the Lightwater Shopping Village nearby with many outlet stores, and York’s Designer Outlet and also John Lewis. Harrogate looks beautiful with all the Christmas lights – better than Oxford Street, in our view, London, where Ali and Lola had a little break! You can pick up unique gifts in Harrogate’s Montpellier Quarter and wander around town with a mulled wine and the smell of roast chestnuts.
If you fancy an escape from all the shopping , Fountain’s Abbey are having Music and Lights events throughout December with a BBQ, you can wander around the Abbey ruins and sing Christmas Carols. You can shout ‘it’s behind you!’ at the local Pantomime at Harrogate Theatre. The Turkish Baths are also a great place to relax and take some time out. They have reduced prices mid-week and it’s very quiet.
Take a look at Visit Harrogate for a list of events during the festive period.
We would like to wish all our guests past and future a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
